Kurt Cobain would have turned 52 on February 20. It’s no doubt that Nirvana is one of the biggest and most influential bands on the indie scene, yet so many of their songs seem to go under the radar. Here is a playlist to take your knowledge of the Nirvana discography past “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Come As You Are”.

This playlist explores some of Nirvana’s earlier and more experimental works and samples albums like Bleach, Nevermind, and Incesticide. It starts with the pulsing “Aero Zeppelin” and makes its way to sludgy “Scentless Apprentice”. “Drain You” is more well-known but lacks the popularity of some of Nirvana’s work. Demos of “If You Must” and “Pen Cap Chew” take the playlist to a heavy end, before the grand finale of a live version of “Opinion”.
